I have been looking to buy 3 hatches for my new project, and stumbled upon this:
https://www.boatdepot.com/p-5721/tempress-white-1115-cam-tackle-hatch-covers?gclid=CLO907C5zswCFQ6oaQod6jsGhA

Just wondering if anyone has used these and what they think. I'm trying to think of a way to make a homemade one instead of spending $100+ on that but either way cool idea. Also if anyone knows a good place to purchase hatches (nothing special just want access below the new front deck) let me know!!! Thanks

Joey

Tempress that you are looking at make good hatches I don't believe you would make a bad decision with them. Also check out Great lakes skipper on line he has excess and seconds of many things boat related and always been good to deal with. He's on ebay also.

I like the design but the dimensions are kinda small. I don't think the tackle boxes would be all that big.

I had one of those in one of my boats and it was nice but like you said the boxes are small..

If I were to do it again I would build one myself and use this as a base

I would make my own hatch for it, depends on where you plan on using it

Check out FishOn Fabrications. They are a site sponsor and the owner is a member here. I bought four custom aluminum hatches from there, one with a drop in liner that would work well to store plano boxes. Zero complaints. Have had them on my boat for about 3 years now. Top quality hatches. And the best thing is he will make them to your exact specifications.

That's exactly what I'm doing, as I too had posted pics of that tackle locker 'liner' before. I picked up a hatch that will serve as the cover on eBay for $40 ... new 'old' stock.
