I got a 87 mirrocraft deep fisherman 2 and a 87 25 hp Mercury but my problem is that the cavitation plate on the motor is like 2inches above the bottom of the boat. How can I lower it with out having to cut the transom down and I don't want to have to get a new boat or motor. I can take a pic if you don't understand what I mean. They are both considered short shafts

This is mine seems like it should go lower

That looks correct to me. Actually the motor could go higher if needed.

Ok I'm usually a Johnson guy but got a killer deal on this merc and just seemed like my Johnson I had sat lower in water. And when I get going up to full throttle it seems like it cuts out but doesn't die so idk cause it runs and idles good and pumps water good
