Hello there. First post on the site. I picked up a 1974 Barrasuda V hull boat. I have searched Google, Bing and Ask to find out some info on it but NOTHING comes up. Everything come up as "Did you mean Barracuda?" I have the registration for it and I would like to find out what the Max weight limit and max motor size is. Also any other info.

I am going by the registration. I cannot find a tag on the boat. There was a time that they did not put tags on small boats..... Or at least that's what I was told at 1 point. I have looked all over the boat to try to find a tag. I think that they generally put the HIN on the transom. Thank you in advance for any help. :)

I did find out that the NYZ in the "HIN" is the manufacturer. They WERE New York Homemade Boats. They are not in business anymore. Also according to the HIN# the 0984 at the end is the month and year it was made. Now if I go by that it is a 1984, BUT the regi says 1974.. I am thinking of just taking my chances and try to register it with the registration I have. I really wanted to find out what is the MAX Engine and Weight it can have.

I took the paperwork to my local DMV (in NYS) just to see if I could register it without jumping through a ton of hoops. The lady behind the counter was very nice, did what she does and said total will be $30.25 for a 3 year registration. YAY.... Now my other question remains. The boat is 11'6" long and a V hull. I can get depth if needed. Does anyone have something around the same size that could let me know the max weight and motor size? Just a approximate, I am probably only going to have a 5 hp max on it. I figure that should be fine.

MotorMan - could you please post a good clear photo
of just the emblem ?? Many of us "Old Timers" have
several resources to check for you.

Also, does the emblem name match what is on the title ?
Not sure, but, I think that after about 1965 or '70, boats
were required to have registered hull numbers.

HIN numbers didn't become mandatory until the early '70's. I have a '71 Sea King that doesn't have a HIN.

Pics of the emblem. Thanks again for all the help.

I am DUMB!!!!! When I looked at the emblem the first 16 times it had a bunch of paint over it. Honestly it looked like an "S". I cleaned off some of the paint, and never looked at it. Now that you say what you said, it does look like Barracuda. ](*,) NOW I'll try some research and see what I find. Thanks again for the help.
