New to the forum. I grew up with a 1960 alumacraft FDR - black and white seats and a '59 Evinrude Lark 35. My grandpa bought it new with all the options. 25 years ago my dad traded it in for a bigger and more powerful boat for skiing. Now that I have my own son I am in search of an early '60s FDR so I can create some new memories with him. I have fond memories of learning to ski behind that boat as well as it being the first thing l learned to drive.

Welcome Aboard Boater !!
I still have the original 1959 14ft Crestliner that my dad bought new in '59.
It came with a '58 Johnson Sea Horse 35 and it was a blast.
As young teenagers, we had developed the necessary boating and safety skills
and often my parents would take the boat and us 3 boys down to the lake and
drop us off for the day. We were not old enough to drive LOL but we could
run a boat all day. We were taught swimming and safe boating skills from an early age.
On one occasion, we forgot the water skis so we went across the lake to an
abandoned fish camp that belonged to our family doctor - - - looking for something
to have fun with.... we took off one of the doors and made a "hydroplane" or
surfboard with it . . . today, they call it a kneeboard . . . but, we turned a day of
not much to do into a really fun day with a new water toy ....

so many memories can be made on the spot - you can't plan for them.
and I fully understand your drive to get this done as I had a daughter that
loved boating from the age of 6 months. (she is 44 now with her own teenagers).

good luck in your search - Happy and Safe boating !!
