I am about to install my new deck in my boat. But before I do that I have a wiring question. I have a livewell fill pump at the sturn and two livewell pumps close to the bow that will need wired. I thought of running a pvc conduit under the decking to give it a cleaner look. The wife thinks I'd be better to run it the same way it was before which was on top of the deck against the hull wall on the starboard side. Her thought is less chance of water getting at the wiring by being on top of the decking.

Any thoughts? Experiences? Pro's? Con's?

If you have the room and it doesn't interfere, running wire through conduit is a great option. It protects the wire from physical damage and keeps it out of sunlight (the ultraviolet kills). It makes it really easy to pull out, check, replace but always tie a stout line on your wire and leave the line in the pipe for easy wire replacement. Secure it so it doesn't rattle or vibrate.
