Just got the notion to investigate. One oar...like the gondoliers in Venice, or many developing countries...seems to be sufficient for steady, slow, movement...like trolling. :)

Looked up a few sites and found this:

Done a lot of scullin' in my lifetime but never that way. I always did it from the front of the boat manually. When the destination is reached, put said paddle back into the boat and proceed with bluegill and redear elimination strategy.
