So I have the boat and now I have to get the emergency equipment required by the state. One thing is a paddle which of course make sense but I want a telescoping and from what I read they look good in the boat but when needed they break apart. Can someone recommend a brand that they have had to use and it stood up to the test?

Thanks

Givey - please don't settle with just the "minimum requirements"
when it comes to safety items . . . each life jacket should have a
signal mirror, whistle, strobe light, and anything else you think would
help in finding a person in a distressed situation.
For the boat - I had two aluminum paddles that had connected sections.
Try them out after you get them - make sure they will hold up with aggressive
paddling - get some "conspicuity tape" from a Big Box Store and put strips on
the paddle blades and handles.
In my opinion, don't get white smoke flares - hard to see in the daytime.
orange day smoke, bright red night flares, strong reliable flashlights, and the
list is only limited by your imigation and of course room for the box to store
all the items in a waterproof box.

With summer upon us - and soooooooooo many new boaters visiting this site,
maybe it is time to start a new thread on the Emergency Box that is kept on a boat.

If you pay $5 for a paddle - you will get a five dollar paddle........
This is not the time to go cheapsy on emergency equipment !!!!
