How can I replace my rotting transom? Its is secured very well with stripped bolts and screws. there are also three metal supports pushing against it.

I'd use either grinder or a dremel with cutoff wheel to cut thru the stripped screws. Make sure & wear ear & eye protection!

to remove the wood, in most cases, it has to come out the same way it went in.
start slowly and carefully removing everything that holds the wood in place.
power tools may be involved. try not to break anything.
use the old one for a template to make a new one. Preserve and waterproof accordingly.
install the new one the same way.

I pulled this one yesterday from my Lone Star...... it was brutal !!!
had to either drill out or cut off several rivets, screws and bolts .... maybe an hours work.

as you work on your boat, you will find that the 4" angle grinder to be your friend.

yours should be a cake walk
