Thanks in advance.

Your Alabama Parks/Wildlife/?? department will know .......considering that it has AL numbers on it. Hope you got a good bill of sale from the real former owner.

Some States are real picky about old, (might be stolen) boats. Probably no troubles, but we read here daily about boats with no titles etc.

p.s. Looks like they have a section on "Salvaged Vehicles/boats" ...

Thanks for the reply. I did get a bill of sale yesterday with the boat, as I knew I needed that to register here in Georgia.

Owner didn't have a copy of registration, but I was able to contact Alabama today and they emailed it to me. Had no details on the make/model, just the year--1970.

Applied for registration today, so we'll see how that comes along. I'm really more curious just to know than for legal purposes.

Great news. You did well. So many of these purchases turn out bad when the paperwork goes to H#$%.

I'll bet someone here will recognize the model/manufacturer of your new yacht.

Well, registration got approved. Stickers are in the mail. That was a lot less hassle than I expected.

Now to figure out what I've actually got. I'll add some more pictures in a bit.

Sears is a good guess... Not this year but very similar construction....

If that's the original paint on the bottom. It could be a mirror crafts. But the interior kind a looks like a Grumman

Calvin, I would go out on a limb here and say that you have
a late '50s - early '60s Orlando Clipper. Manufactured in Orlando, FL.

good luck in your project !!!

Thank you so much! This information was very helpful, and it would have taken me a long time to get this. I'd never even heard of that manufacturer before. I did find a number on the back right of the transom... 52-14-357, and I think I've narrowed down to '54-'56.

some - but not all - of the vintage serial numbers will tell you
exactly what the boat is by the serial number stamped into the hull.

52 = the year, 1952
14 = the size, 14ft
357 = the count off the production line.

so, with that in mind, you "could" have a 14ft, 1952 Clipper
that rolled off the assembly line as #357 for that year.
and the length varied GREATLY in the vintage years . . . .
13'6" for a 14ft boat
14'2" for a 15ft boat,
etc etc etc.
just make sure that serial number goes on your new registration.
and if they will let you, put Orlando Clipper and 1952 in the appropriate boxes.
sort of like the VIN number on your car - it must be correct.
I restored a 1930 Buick a few years ago and the VIN was 300000009.
which stood for the 1930 year and number nine off the line for that year. pretty cool.

and it would be cool if you found the plate somewhere on the inside of the hull.

or, once you start your project, you could have one custom made if you wanted.
and, you can sand down the oval logo plate smooth and apply a new red vinyl decal.

From looking at the charts it looks like this, as all with the first two numbers have in common:

52 - width in inches at transom
14 - length in feet (rounded)
357 - Not sure (your count of production sounds good)
