Should there be an air gap between the plywood deck and the rigid foam board from Home Depot or Lowes?

I am close to reinstalling the front deck and started thinking that if there is no air gap that the plywood deck could start to rot a lot quicker. Any thoughts or experiences with this?

how is the wood underneath the deck ?
if it is properly sealed and waterproofed, they can touch each other.
just take into consideration that any moisture between the two will not evaporate.
so if the underside of the deck is not properly sealed and waterproofed,
I would suggest an air space of at least a 1/2" so it can breathe.

I'd seal the underside of the plywood & after full cure glue the foam to it. Put a full bead around the circumference to eliminate water sucking in.
