After a few years of reading this forum on and off I recently picked this Valco up. Its a few inches under 14', about 65" at the beam and has a 15" transom. I'm trying to figure out what model it is. I did find this:

https://boatspecs.iboats.com/Valco_Boats__1972/bp/54br2065y

and I think I've narrowed it down to a commando, a steelhead or a vampire. Maybe, there are no pictures on the internet of any of these, and I've only ever seen one other closed bow valco. All the specification stickers are gone off the transom. I'm mainly interested because I'm shopping for a motor and if this thing is actually rated at 40hp it should be pretty fun. I want to have the specs nailed down beforehand so I don't get in trouble for overpowering it. I got a pretty good deal on it and already paid the tags up. Probably just fix the transom, slap a motor on it and deal with cosmetics next winter.

any help would be appreciated.

Not exactly the same but close.
40 hp would be oodles. An older 2 stroke 35 would have a nice balance of weight and power. Better have a look at that transom first!

When I bought my tinny over the border in Washington the owner had no clue of the model. Turns out it was on the transfer papers....
