I bought a new seat and 3° tilt swivel for my jon boat. The seat mounting holes are much closer spaced than mounting holes on the swivel top. 5.25" vs 6.25" spacing. This does not seem right to me. Mounting holes should be somewhat standard, should they not?

I believe there are 4 "standard" sizes used in the last 15 years of manufacturing. The bigger and heavier the seat the bigger the mounting pattern.

I'd guess different manufacturers have different "Standards".

I'd do some searching and calling to see if you can find a match. Return the new one that doesn't fit.

If not, mounting a large piece of 2x6 onto the deck, with added Stainless T-nuts fitted onto the backside of the board...... should allow you to use what you have. I call it a "transition" piece.

Thanks all!

Yesterday I bought a 12" x 12" 16 gauge steel plate to make the transition from seat to swivel. Should work ok.
