I'm sure this topic has been covered many times...I just can't seem to find a thread on it.

I'm prepping my boat for paint. What kind of primer (bare aluminum) and paint are recommended for a durable finish that is not super expensive?

Rust-Oleum aluminum primer
and any top coat of your choice within the Rust-Oleum family

Note: it has been said in other forums that Self Etching Primer was designed
and is intended for bare metal only . . . . if it is applied over a painted surface,
there is the inherent risk of the SEP tunneling and burrowing under
the existing paint to create an avenue for possible corossion.

Read, Understand and Follow the instructions on the label of all products you use.
Pay particular attention to the safety notes and heed the warnings accordingly.

Self etching primer. I am in the process of painting my boat now and I used self etching/rustoleum and hardener.
