someone swiped my drain/bail plug on my 1966 Alumacraft model AZ. Now I know why because I cannot find a replacement. I tried the factory as well and they referred me to this forum. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Welcome Aboard Mikey

here in Tin Boats, we like to see photos in order to
get on the same page as you.
vintage boats are often modified, repaired or altered
from the original version..... this is why photos will
help the gallery help you with most of your issues.

I am leaning towards the standard 1/2" or 3/4" common NPT brass plug.

Thanks for the tip on pictures I am new.
It is original and I was also assuming it was 1/2 NPT , now I know and will try when I go back to the cabin tonight.

Mikey - if you can find anything that is 1/2", give it a try
to see if it fits. a piece of pipe, PVC, whatever.... then you will know.
if it turns out to be the standard NPT, the plugs are available at
the Big Box Stores for about $6 for brass.

just for security, you should carry a couple of the generic rubber
drain plugs. I think yours is in the transom vs in the deck, the
rubber plug will work quite well to keep the water out.

If you just buy a replacement from the hardware store, you'll likely have to wrap the threads with pipe tape to prevent it from leaking. The thread quality usually isn't up to par, unless you can find one with a shoulder, then you could put a rubber washer against it.
