I'm working on a rebuild of this 1968 Nichols 12' Semi V Jon Boat (here's the link to the project post: https://www.forum.tinboats.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=43954). Below is a picture of the floor and framing I've done so far. All I have left to do is frame the back of the boat and cut the plywood for the storage areas / decking.
I'm not sure what type of floor I want to do. I've been on a small boat that had indoor/outdoor carpet, which looked really nice, but if you drop a fishing lure on that stuff, it's a pain in the *** to get it out of the carpet. But I like the idea that carpet acts as a sound-deadening material.
I bought some paint that I was going to mix some sand into for the decking, but I'm just not sure if it's the best thing to do. I definitely want to go cheap, so what do you guys think are the pros and cons of my options?
