Does anybody really replace their water pump impeller every year?

If the maintenance spec were to say to "inspect" the impeller annually, then I suppose it kind of makes sense to just go ahead and replace it.
Edit: Wanted to add I would find the article very useful if I were looking at a used boat. Thanks for posting.
