I measured the bottom of my 1756 and only got 50". I call it 1756 because that is what the title says. Is there a rule of thumb on this that I didn't catch on to?

Most Jons when they say like 1448 as a model they are referring length by bottom width. My Sea Ark was 2472 and my Grizzly is 1448.

Yea, that doesn't make sense.

My 1448 is 14' long with a 48" bottom and 70" at the gunwale. My 1436 measured the same way. 14' long and 36" at the floor.

56" gunwale width would have to be a really narrow boat or sides that were almost completely vertical.

Flat bottom and mod-v jon style boats are sized based on the 2 digit length & 2 digit width @ the bottom of the transom convention.

Utility v hull's are measured for width at the gunwales.
