I am looking for a leaning post for my 1870 Bay sport? Anyone make their own or have a dyi way to make one? Or any companies selling them?

I have one on the way, but my welder had both hands operated on. No wonder, 30 years of puddling stainless welds.

Using a floor plate and seat stand:

The seat swivel comes off, that's where the knee/lap yoke will be, used a flat floor plate.

Will post pics when it gets home from the welding shop. Basically like an aluminum drift boat rest. You might give FishOn Fabrications a call or email, they are sponsors here. https://www.fishonfabrications.com/

Are you looking for a seat that you lean back on or a back support that you can stand at with a back cushion?

You could make one very inexpensively from 1 5/8" conduit canopy fittings:

I’d like a post to lean on to drive and sit on to fish. Needs to be usable 360 degrees, no backtest.

I have a SeaArk 1872. Limited space. Finally decided on a cooler. I can lean or sit to drive and sit & fish. I bought the Academy knock off of the Yeti 70.

Though a three legged leaning post, two front legs and single back leg goes into the post receiver. And high enough to open live well lids, located below!

That picture of one would be easy to make but might be a little pricey for parts.

This might get you forward to open the well covers.

Looks like you have a base installed. If you want to do a diy, get an offset post from walmart for less than $40, add a cheap fixed seat base and fabricate a 2 X 6 seat by rounding the corners, add seat foam and vinyl cover.

I know a dozen folks in the local upholstery shops that could spit one out in less than an hour. If you know someone that replaces car interiors, that's a great place to get one done.

Also used a cooler with a fixed seat cushion for years, pretty easy to lock down on floor which is a concern.
