Tracker Deep Pro V17 has a channel the transom fits into. It is
1 1/4" thick. I was thinking on using 1/2" plywood epoxy resin'd together with fiberglass cloth sandwiched between the sheets. Then covering all sides with fiberglass cloth.

Is this overkill?

How thick is the fiberglass cloth? And if I did what I'm intending. Will that add up to my 1 1/4" thickness?

Yeah, it is. I'd laminate 2 pieces together with epoxy or the waterproof TiteBond3 I think it is, then would finish with your choice of waterproofing. Myself I'd use epoxy, but I have a ton on hand. Can buy a neat 1/2-gallon kit for $40 from www.raka.com , ask for Mike or Larry.

I had planned on using epoxy resin, so how much will the epoxy add to the width of the boards. I assume 1/2" I good and the epoxy may add 1/16"?
