Good evening all. First time posting as I’m new to the site, so don’t flame me too bad. I recently purchased a “salvage” Jon boat and trailer. I had bought it just for the trailer as I needed one for my 12 footer. When I went to pick it up, it was a lot bigger than I had thought. The pictures were deceiving and in the description it didn’t state the size of the boat. I never saw it in person until I went to pick it up. The boat ended up being a 1648. I brought it home and cleaned it up a bit, but was wondering if it would be worth fixing up to make a duck/fishing boat out of it. I have attached some pictures for y’all to help me decide. It looks like the past owner hit something hard and cracked the bow and 3 support beams across it. It has a pretty good size hole in the front of the starboard side. The transom needs to be replaced and had a few other little holes that need repair. I’m asking for y’all opinion on what else I may need to think about looking at to decide if it’s worth fixing, or if I should scrap the idea completely and just use the trailer for my 12 footer. Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks. I’m only into the boat and trailer for $40.00 so far (SCORE!!!). I have access to welders and what not to work on it. This would be a winter project in between hunting season.
