First time long time here!

A couple of buddies and i decided to go in on a 1972 sears flat bottom for our first build, i was wondering if anyone has ever used light gauge inch and one quarter studs for framing instead of angle, and can you use pop rivets to fasten framing to hull? Any advice helps, Thanks!

I am not an expert and would ask someone with a lot more knowledge than I possess. But here are two things that I would be concerned with.

Because boats are in wet environments, I would be concerned with galvanic corrosion between the galvanized steel stud and your aluminum boat.

Additionally, I would kind of question how well the electro galvanizing on those studs is really going to protect against rust in a wet environment.
