Hi Everyone,

I have just bought my first boat; so keep in mind I am a novice. I picked up a very nice 87 Lowe Sprite and need some help on understanding how this built-in Livewell works.

As you can see from the pictures, there is a overflow tube that goes to a hole in the bottom of the boat. The Livewell pump is there but not hooked up.

Can someone please school me on how this livewell works? The water will just come in through this open hole once the boat is in the water? Should there be a plug here?

I figured out you unscrew the tube to drain.

Haven’t had the boat on the water yet.

Help is greatly appreciated!

My crestliner was originally set up like this with no valve, the hose ran from bottom of hull then had a y splitter, one was at bottom of livewell one at top for overflow. So it would always hold water up to river level. I now am (adding shut off to lower hose) i had a very interesting experience in a very windy day running into the wind it began to syphon water and was doing so quickly! I shoved a spare plug in it and it returned to river level after bailing it out. But it was a baaaaaad feeling when our gatorade emptys popped the lid up in the middle of the river. lol
