Holy crap. What a sad day!

Canadian company BRP has announced it will stop making the Evinrude outboard boat engines.
BRP, in a statement on its website, said, that it has “re-oriented its marine business by focusing on the growth of its boat brands with new technology and innovative marine products. We will discontinue production of Evinrude E-TEC and E-TEC G2 outboard engines. Our Sturtevant, WI, facility, will be repurposed for new projects to pursue our plan to provide consumers with an unparalleled experience on the water.”

Pappy started a thread on this on May 28. Worth a look.

Be well.

Back in the early 60s my Uncle was a foreman at Evinrude. Every summer he would be given a new motor, a small one, a six or 9.9 horsepower to use the entire summer. In Fall he would return it and evaluate how well it ran, noting any problems. He shared it with my Dad, neither of them had to buy a motor for many years. Nice employees perk.
