I have the opportunity to pickup a 1953 16' starcraft. I'm not 100% convinced its that old? Does this look like a 1953 boat/ hull?

My favorite type of boat. Wide open floor plan tiller steer. That Evinrude 15 is one of the best 2 strokes ever made. I would update the seats, go through the engine, maybe add some electronics and head to the river.
As for how old it is, I'm sure there's a web site that can tell you how old it is from the vin number. Nice boat good luck.

Looks about right to me.
That motor is way too small though. A 35 would be a better fit for that size boat.

No such thing as too old if it's in good shape and fits your needs!

That is a nice open boat and I like the wide gunnels. Someone already got you started by removing the rear bench in favor of the pedestal seat.

The lap strakes are a big plus too.
Agree with the lap strakes. That is always a cool feature, IMO.
