what kind of bolts should i use?

im thinking about replacing the transom in my boat. the previous owner had put some steel bolts in it and corroded it like crazy, so i was wondering what i should use to avoid that. i will be using it in saltwater, in case that makes a difference. thanks, mike.
 
SS Bolts are the only thing you can use. Be careful where the stainless touches any other metal - like alumunuim, it will "cut" through it as a result of galvanic reaction. Use a sealant (like 3M 5200) around the shaft, nut and bolt head areas to prevent direct contact between dissimilar metals.
