I can't bring myself to pay $100+ for one when I can build my own. The one problem that I am having is not wanting to mount anything permanent to the deck of my boat.
I have the t-rail system that I have though about making mounting brackets for but I ran across a design on ebay that uses the screw type pedestal seat base for mounting. It would be extremely easy to build but I wonder about how sturdy it is. I have also looked at several on crappie.com that were built from black iron pipe.
Has anyone done this or have any tips / tricks?
