Hope this works. I'm pretty computer illerate. :? i'm trying to post pictures of my boat so I can ask a few questions. Is there an easy way to post pics? I want to cut out the center seat & put a flat floor in. I also want to cut out the front seat and install a divided storage compartment. I'll install seat pedestals on the new floor and also add more storage for batteries, gas, ross, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Welcome to our site tunnels. You will find a multitude of information in here for all your marine needs.

This link,
Code:
https://photobucket.com/
will help you post pictures online. It has folder and editing features to assist you. We like to keep our pictures small online as it takes up a lot of space and is unnecessary. Under 60kb is a nice size.

Now, most aluminum boats with bench seats have them for a couple reasons.
Rigidity for the sidewalls and flotation for emergencies.

This is a link to my interior to help explain more.
My seats have foam in them. This aids in flotation if the hull was to suddenly take on water. It helps keep the boat above water. You will also notice how the seats are tied into the sidewalls. This helps hold the walls out so they don't collapse.

so this is why it is recommended NOT to alter the seats. However it has been done and there are a few ways to do it.

What ever you are thinking of cutting out, you will want to secure and replace the flotation else where.
You mention putting in a floor. Well then try keeping it high enough off the bottom that you can lay down some styrofoam panels. This has many benefits.
Sound dampening, flotation and floor rigidity.

Now, if you want to cut out the center of the seats, you will want to cap the ends and then secure them to the floor. This will help keep the rigidity of the sidewalls by transferring the stress to the floor.

So upload your picks to "photobucket", edit them to an acceptable size, post them and then mention your ideas and you will get a lot of help.

There are many 14' tinny's in here that you can search that will give you ideas on your mod.

Good Luck and Enjoy..

Thanks, Nipper.
I just have to work on my computer skills. I'm antsy to get started on the project. Best part of doing something like this is the ability to still use the boat most of the time.
