I'm putting a floor in my jon boat and bought some fiberglass resin to seal the wood before gluing the carpet down. Is this stuff good for sealing wood? I've heard and read both positive and negative comments, so I can't make up my mind!

Yes but it adds weight to the wood.As much as I like epoxy,I wouldn't use it in a small aluminum boat.Wood sealer will last just as long.Epoxy will break down over time if it's not painted. It needs UV and ozone protection.

ben2go, thanks for the reply. So something like Thompson Waterseal should do the trick? I don't plan to leave the boat in the elements uncovered for any length of time. The floors are removable and can be stored indoors, or I if I leave them in I will cover the boat. So the main worries are rain, and the water that gets in the boat from leaky rivets while fishing.
