1984 50hp Merc drainplug question?

Does anybody now what size the drain plug is in the lower unit. I bought a boat and there is no drain plug in the bottom of the lower unit. I would like to run to the hardware store to see if I can find somthing that would work. Also what should I use for lower unit oil? Apperently he drained it over the winter but lost the plug...LOL Thanks in advance for the help!

Be careful my friend!!! You don't want to strip those threads in the foot. It could cause a lot more troubles, than waiting until Monday, and getting the right one at the dealer. As far as the oil. Any name brand lower unit oil should do the trick. You can get at W-mart, K-mart, etc. Hope this helps, Scott
