Deck Lid

Started the mod on my xpress allweld.
Quick question on a deck lid as i need the storage. I am looking at a homemade way of using let's say a 2x2 to support the lid when i lift it up. Also, would like to create a built in bracket to hold this piece when not in use. The piece will be about 18 inches long and will support a deck lid 20 inches long by 42 inches wide, 3/4 inch plywood. On the bracket end, it needs to be angled, let's say 22 degrees on one end.

Should work but how about a lift cylinder, or two, like on a car hatch? They aren't that exspensive and would self store.
