Can anyone give me some advice on building hatches? I have looked at Cabelas and some other retailers, but their products are expensive and do not come in the sizes I am looking for. I began looking into building custom hatches out of aluminuim, or plywood. Looking for some economical ideas. Thanks :?

I have not done it yet, but his is what I am going to try. I'm going to use rubbermaid containers, mount them so the lip is just higher than the floors frame height, then rout out the plywood for the lid in the shape of the containers top so there is an overlap to stop water from getting in. Will see if it is effective at all.
