I am buying a new 1436 this week and was wondering which boats are best for decking. lowe, tracker or alumacraft? thanks

I can't speak to the differences between brands, but if you plan to deck the boat high, you might want to look at a wider boat than a 36". The wider a boat is, the more stable it is in the water. If you deck a narrow boat up high, you can't stand close to the edge without danger of tipping the boat and taking on water.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!!

Agree with HH wholeheartedly. Also, when you do add wood (if you choose to go that route) make sure it's regular wood with water sealer, not treated wood, as pressure treated wood has trace amounts of copper that will corrode the aluminum.

I decked my 36 in boat, and its been fine for me. As to what brand is better, I don't think it matters. There are some brands that are longer lasting and I know Lowe has that reputation.
