Should I use aluminum blind rivets with aluminum mandrels, or aluminum rivets with steel mandrels for the framing of my jon boat decks?

I will be using 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 x 1/8 aluminum angle for the framing.

Thanks.

Ken

Aluminum/Aluminum. If the mandrel pulled completely out, steel mandrels will be fine, but since the goal of the mandrel is to break off, and thus leave a piece in the rivet, the mandrel needs to be aluminum.

Yeah, I thought that steel - to - aluminum contact was not a good idea in a boat.

Bassboy, how many rivets did you use per joint? From your pictures it looks like one rivet per joint. I am trying to estimate how many rivets to buy and don't know if the joints require more than one rivet. When I say joint, I mean the connection of a vertical piece to a horizontal piece. It seems like using only one rivet would allow the joint to rotate. Is this good? bad? don't care?
