yamaha stuck inn forward

I have 15 horse yamaha it is stuck in the forward gear I tred to take the lower unet off it had four bolts that I could find but it will not come off am I missinng something thanks for any info or help

Did you disconnect the linkage? That, the drive shaft, which will slide free from the power head unless it has been bent or damaged in some way, and the cooling tube are all that should be connected.

If you, or someone, hit something that causd the gears to be damaged, it is very possible the drive shaft is damaged and hanging up in the power head where it connects to the crank shaft. If it will not release you should try pulling the power head.
