Mud dobber wasps made multiple nests using red Georgia clay under the cowlings of the motor I have, so I need to wash the mud out. Is there anything I can possibly hurt using soap and water?

Note: The stator already has shorted out wires due to the wasp nests.

I plan on covering up the carburetors, but the level of dirt is ridiculous.

Pretty much, if you keep the water out of the carb and starter, you're good to go. Those nests will destroy engines internally so it's good you are taking care of them. A little WD-40 or equivalent everywhere under the cowling may discourage them for a while. Supposedly moth balls will also.

Thanks Pappy. Last owner left me those as a present when I bought the boat. I think the motor would be a lot less problem to get running later if it wasn't for those wasps. #-o
