Ok here is the story. My sister and her boyfriend bought a 1987 Bass Tracker with a 60hp Mercury which is also an 87.
The motor would no go into gear so he forced the handle down and broke some pieces on the inside. My dad is trying to fix it for them but 2 of the pieces that broke are no longer available.
The question he has is, would the older style control boxes work in place of the newer ones. This one has the button on the inside that you push and push the gas down to rev the motor up. The old style had the little lever that you lifted to rev it up.
From the little looking we have done, the older styles are more plentiful and cheaper. If he decides to replace the whole control box could the older style be converted to work?
