Decided to install a tach on my motor before the spring fishing season arrives. I know the tiny tach is very popular on this site, but I was wondering about a factory part. I have a Mercury motor, and I have been told if you order a mercury part, there is an actual plug in, whereas the tiny tach uses a wire that wraps around the spark plug wire. Any ideas? I sure would love a one step installation.

i have a tiny tach on my 9.8 tohatsu 4 stroke. i do not believe it is working right. i think it is giving me a double reading. i think the rpm is half of what it says. i need to look further into it. i have the model with the resetable hour meter, this comes in very handy for figuring maintenasnce schedules. 40 $ seemed like a good way to go. good luck
