Just bought a 16' Aluminum V with a 1975 75 horse Johnson motor. Has manual tilt but I can't get it to tilt up. Previous owner said he never tried so doesn't know how. Can't find a release lever anywhere. Could it just be bound up? Lifts about 2" then feels like it hits something. Please help! Never been around a manual tilt this large.

Thanks for your help. Dug into tearing out the decking today and went through all the parts for controls he had in a box. Found the motor does have power tilt after all. Makes me question everything he told me about the boat, including whether or not the motors run.
Start with taking compression & go from there.
