I have an old 40 HP that I'd like to run, but it's on a stand, and pull starting this pig is beyond my physical capacity. I have a starter for the motor but have no idea what wires hook to what and then how to start this thing.

Any assistance for this mechanical/electrical dummy is VERY welcome.

Thanks.

Hook up your jumper cables to your battery and then find a good ground for the negative cable and then touch the positive cable to the bolt that secures the red cable near the bottom of the starter. When it starts remove the cables from the battery.
Choke motor to stop.
