I've just purchased a mercury outboard and I'm not sure what hp it is, was told that it was 15. Where are the serial numbers located so that I can check ?

There are no visible numbers on the sticker , they are completely faded away. Is there another place to find them? Why don't they make them more permanent!!!
There might be a quarter size plug on the motor that has numbers on it.

Found it, the numbers are A922098. How can I find the year it was made?Or should I say where?
