I have my 78 Evinride 9.9 pull start ready to fire up. I don't know when it was run last. The previous owner said he had it gone through. Any trick or tips to start it? Should I choke it the whole way, where to set the throttle ect.... Thanks Todd

Since you do not know when the last time it ran - pull the plug and squirt a little 2 stroke oil in the cylinder - it could be really dry in there and you do not want to seize the engine

Also, I would run the oil to fuel ratio a little rich as well

While you are pulling plugs - replace it!

Spray a little CRC on all the throttle connections, springs and what not as well - then work them by hand to make sure the move easily and smoothly

Make sure you have water hooked up to the intakes

Then start pulling - it it does not start (or at least pop or sputter) check and make sure you have spark.

DO NOT USE starting fluid - use your normal gas in a syringe if you want to give it shot through the mouth of the carb
