Might be lookin to make some big tin power here soon. which one of these would be better?? pros and cons?

would be on a 16 deep v rated for 65hp.

Mechanically they are both excellent motors so that's a draw.
Any part for the Evinrude will be cheaper and easier to get.
Evinrude has 10 more hp.
If I were to choose one I would go by price, condition, and age. If your boat is going to be loaded down, several passengers, etc I would get the 50hp or maybe even look for something larger.

I'd go for the 50 Evinrude. It's only a 2 cylinder and it has 45 cubic inches, the yamaha is a 3 cylinder and it only has 42cubic inches. Parts are cheap for the Evinrude and There's alot you can do perfomance wise to them. I've heard of people getting 70hp out of them with the right amount of modding. The yamaha's can be modded to and it can be bumped up to a 50hp with a carb change and alot of guys like them but I'm an OMC guy so I stick to Rudes.
