I've seen steer stops available for larger motors, but what about small ones? I have a Tohatsu
9.8 w/o power tilt or trim. When trailering, I use a transom saver. I've just been tightening the steering tension bolt to keep it from swinging side to side, but I don't feel this is best for the motor. Do I have any other options?

How about using one ( or two ) rubber bungee cords from the corner of the stern to the tiller or steering control? I guess you could use two bungees and position it dead center.

I sure agree that tightening the motor's stop isn't a good idea for very long. I guess my engines are all too heavy to swing around much. Never paid any attention to any movement back there.

Also, doesn't your transom saver have a way to hold the shaft vertically? I seem to remember the last one I used was configured with a big -- V -- where it contacted the motor.
regards, Rich
