So I've been looking for a bigger outboard in the 65 to 75 HP range, and this 70 HP Force popped up locally. I called the guy and he said its a 1997, which from what I can find, isn't possible. Seems 95 was the last time a 70 HP was made. So strike one, the guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
Also said the trim pump just went bad, so I'd have to replace that (or if I'm lucky swap it out with my 40 HP if it'd fit).
Not sure if I'll get an on the water test, but at the very least I'd be hooking it up to some muffs. I'd also do a compression test, but something makes me leery about this motor, not sure why. I'd really like to upgrade, but Force motors don't exactly have a sterling reputation. My 40 HP runs like a top, probably because I know the people I bought it from :|
