Just installed my 2009 Yamaha 2-stroke 25ESH. I was learning how the engine operates and notice the tilt lock only engages when the motor is in reverse. Otherwise the motor is free to tilt. There is no other tilt lock mechanism, although according to the manual some engines come with another "manual tilt lock". So should the engine be trailered with the engine in reverse to keep it from jumping around?

Interesting. The manual says to trailer with the motor in the down "running" position which is what I did with my last motor, but it had an additional manual tilt lock.

If you have enough clearance, skeg to ground you should be ok. A transom saver is still a good investment.
