i wanted to get some insite on what others think about about putting a 40 hp on a 1963 deep v hull starcraft is this to much motor or not???

If the boat is in good shape and rated for it, it should be no problem. I have a 40hp on a '67 14' Starcraft Mariner- V. The mariner V is more like a modified V at the transom than a deep V. A deep V will typically take more power to plane and to optain the same speed of a shallower V.
