It's the cover that folds when you raise the tiller arm, with those 4 plugs that snap it into place as you can see in the pic. I've looked everywhere, and the original was destroyed when I bought the motor. Any ideas on where I can pick a new one up?

That part is readily available through any authorized Johnson/Evinrude dealer. I have bought a few of them in the past several months for the engines I go through. Take needle nosed pliers and gently pull the rubber nubs through from the bottom side when installing.

Does anyone know the exact part number? I've looked to try and find on all the online sites, and no one has the parts for the tiller handle listed with an exploded diagram.........
 
I'm going to try, but I need a part number to give him. It's a half hour drive each way to the nearest dealer, and I'm not going to drive just to order it, I'd rather call with a part number and then pick it up when it gets there.

Any help would be appreciated if someone knows how to get the part # for this.

You didn't say what model year you have?

Sorry guys, it's a 1977 15hp pull start, short shaft. Everywhere I look for parts for this motor, no one has the exploded view for the tiller handle assembly, they only have them for later model motors.
