found tube in head

i found a small rubber tube just behind the theromstat on my force 50 horse motor. It is pretty much crushed and i cant figure out what it is suppossed to do. There is raised bars that look llike it holds the tube in place.

Okay, now that I have seen the part................that is definitely a diverter valve. Designed to direct or divert water flow properly through the block. Find the part number and replace it with new.

No one in my area carrys it and i called parts.net and they do not carry it either. I found some small hydraulic tubeing that is used for irrigation systems and im going to test it to heat and see what happens.

Update i boiled the tubing that i found and it held up to the heat. Looks like im going to try it.
