the trim does not work some times from either switch i have checked connections and they all seem fine any ideas

Factory or aftermarket trim?
Does it try to work, click, nothing at all???
I know you said you checked the connections, but the first thing I would do is check them again. Triple check the ground connection.

Start checking your switch with a 12 volt tester. [-o<
