Inherited a 1974 Evinrude 9.9 model 10454G. Has been sitting for about 12 years. I am cleaning it up before I try to start it. The plugs that were in it were Champion QL77JC4. The service manual recommends Champion UL4J. The plate on the motor says to use Champion L7J. Any suggestions as to what worked best in your 9.9 engines? NGK? :?:
 
If you want a jonnyrude to run properly, stick with the champion sparkplugs,I seriously dont recomend any other brands,,ask any well seasoned OMC mecanic..By the way that 9.9 is tougher then nails more than likely will still be running 20yrs from now its a great little motor Mike
